 Who? - specialists in physical, cyber, and insider infiltration

 How? - spying, extortion or bribery of staff, physical theft. 

As the custodians of data got smarter and better protected, this became harder, riskier and therefor less lucrative, only the best adapted and continued.



Reputation damage, profit damage, productivity damage

 Why? - sometimes stealing your ideas wasn't enough, you just had to suffer

 Who? - takes a special breed to just want to hurt someone, even for money

 How? - (D)DoS, data corruption, ransomware

Sometimes people oppose your methods, your affiliations, or your success, some of them act on those feelings



Scammers needing more of your personal information

 Why? - more personalised information makes their scams more convincing

 Who? - anyone with the right moral set and the knowhow

 How? - phishing, social farming, stolen data purchase,

Your personal information has became so valuable, even legitimate businesses wanted to know more about you, to profit more from you.


Extortion

 Why? -because you need your information, and your reputation to operate,

  Who? - anyone! with tools available for purchase on the dark web, literally anyone!

 How? - ransomware, (D)DoS​

Ask yourself, if someone ransomed all of your information and warned you not to report it, and pay$20,000 to them or you wouldn't get it back, what would you do?
